- File conversion error
This error can happen for a number of reasons:
- The file you are converting is not supported by SlingSync. See the link below for the list of supported file formats and codecs. Keep in mind that a file can have a combination of supported and unsupported codecs. For example, a file could have a supported video codec but an unsupported audio codec. All aspects of the file—the container, the audio codec, and the video codec—must be supported for the file conversion to be successful.
- The file you are trying to convert is corrupted. Try to play the file in a media player on your PC, such as Windows Media Player or VLC. If the file does not play correctly all the way through, that suggests that there's an error in the file—which could lead to a conversion error.
- SlingSync cannot transfer the file(s) to this drive. Access is denied.
This is caused by a permissions error. Make sure that you have write-access (in other words, that you can edit files and create new ones) for the drive that you are working with.
- SlingSync cannot transfer this file. [Filename] is protected by Windows Media or Apple DRM.
The file that you're trying to work with has digital rights management features, which restrict your ability to copy or move the file. This is preventing SlingSync from transferring the file.
- SlingSync cannot transfer this file. [Filename] is too big to transfer.
The file that you're trying to transfer is greater than 4GB in size, which is the maximum file size that SlingSync can work with. You'll need to choose another file, or find another way to transfer it.
- SlingSync may not be able to transfer all the selected files because there is not enough disk space available on this drive. Do you want to continue?
The "target" (receiving) disk doesn't appear to have enough available space to accept the files that you are trying to transfer to it. If you continue, only some of the files are transferred.
- SlingSync cannot transfer file [filename]. Source and Destination file path is same.
You're trying to both copy and write a file to the same disk. Choose another disk to receive the file.
- SlingSync cannot transfer this file because there is not enough disk space.
There's not enough space on the target disk to receive the file that you are trying to transfer. Select another target disk, or try clearing out some space on the full disk.
- SlingSync could not tranfer files to [disk name] because is not enough free space available on this drive.
This is the same as the previous error: there is not enough room on the target drive to receive the file. Try clearing out some space on the target disk, or choose a different one.
- Transfer Error [error code].
This is a "generic" error code that can mean various things, depending on the error code provided. Make a note of the error code in case you need to contact Sling Support for assistance.
- Origin drive unavailable.
For some reason, the source drive is not available. Often this means that the drive has been disconnected. If it's a network drive, this error can also mean that the drive is no longer available on the network.
- The file [filename] does not exist.
This error can happen if you scan your disk using SlingSync, but later delete the file using Windows Explorer (or some other means other than SlingSync). If you do that, you should always re-scan the disk in SlingSync. Otherwise, SlingSync doesn't know that the file is gone. As a result, the file still appears to be available within SlingSync, but when SlingSync tries to work with the file, it can't find it, resulting in this error. |
