- First, make sure that the drive that the file is on a compatible USB drive. USB drives must be formatted using the FAT32 file system. If you're not sure about your USB drive, see the related article on troubleshooting USB drives.
- If the drive is OK, then the file may not be in the correct format to be played on your SlingCatcher. SlingCatcher supports most video and audio file formats, including the following:
- Video: WMV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, Xvid
- Audio: MP2, MP3, WMA, AAC, AC3. PCM
- File formats: .avi, .vob, .ifo, ps., .ts, .mpg, .wmv, .asf, .mov, .mp4, .m4v, .mp3, .wma, .mp4a, .m4a, .wav
- If your file is not in one of those formats, try SlingSync to convert the files. For more information, see the related article about Technical Specifications.
- There are also utilities out there that can help you re-encode the file in a format that is supported. There's a related article on file playback and conversion that will help.
